Our Learning:

We discussed the signs of Spring even though there we still had some Winter signs hanging around.  In Math, we played a game called "Face Off" where students had to subitze power of ten cards.  These cards are helpful in leading children to describe their visual understanding of numbers.  An example is saying, "I know this one is nine because it is one less than ten" or "I know this one is six because of the five and the one".  We also continued to work with dominoes and tally marks.

Bonus work:   Have your child write the numerals 1 to 10 down the side of a paper and then write the corresponding tally marks beside the number.  If they can go further, let them give it a try!  (Bonus work is always optional!)

New Reading Resource:

One of my favorite activities to do with children is sing songs and then learn to read the lyrics together.  Your child will be bringing home a song TREASURE book on Thursday and you are free to keep it over the weekend.  Please return it every Monday so that we can use the books in school and add new songs along the way.

 Help Needed!

It's that time again where our classroom needs some new playdough.  If you have some free time and would like to donate a batch, it would be greatly appreciated.  We would love a springtime color if possible.

Here is a recipe to use if you don't have one of your own.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup salt
  • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Food color

Stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large pot. Next, add the water and oil.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball.  Add the food coloring.  Remove from heat and then knead the dough.  If it is sticky you may want to knead it on a floured surface.  Put it into an airtight bag or container.

Thank you so much!
