Our Learning:

We wasted no time jumping back into some heavy duty learning!  Our week started with learning about the five senses.  We used this information in our exploration of the coulee, as we took part in a scavenger hunt where each location focused on one of the five senses.   Of course the "taste location" was a highlight, as it was where we ate snack.  😀  We also contributed to "making a mark" on a 12 foot canvas piece of art and shadow play was enjoyed by everyone.

In Math we worked with the number six,  breaking it up in a variety of ways.  We looked at 2 part ways like "5 and 1" "4 and 2"  "3 and 3" and "6 and 0".  However, some children took it a step further and broke it up in complex ways, such as "2, 2 and 2" and "3, 2 and 1".

If you are looking for a home extension, get six items and ask your child to show you how many ways they can break it up.  They can write down the various combinations and bring it to school to show the class.  I call this "BONUS work" which is completely optional.

THANK YOU!

We received a lot of rice to make our new rainbow rice center.  The kids are very excited! Thank you so much to all the families who contributed.

Thank you also to the parents who joined us on our coulee trip.  We couldn't do it without you!

One more thank you.... thanks for bringing the bags of nature items.  Please feel free to send one in next week, if you haven't done so but would like to.
